Admission and Withdrawal
(Applicable to both Day and Evening College)
- Candidates
who are admitted on the basis
of qualification obtained from the other universities or bodies should
fully satisfy all the prescribed conditions for admissions and such
admissions are subject to confirmation by the university. The
provisional admission is entirely at the risk of the candidate.
Candidates with qualifications of other universities or bodies should
produce an eligibility certificate issued by the Madras University for
consideration for admission.
- Students
who are found to have obtained
admission by false representations will be summarily dismissed with
forfeiture of the fees they had paid.
- No
student will be enrolled or permitted
to attend classes until the fees due by him have been paid.
- A student
admitted at any time in the
college should pay the whole fee for the academic year.
- A student
who has left the college will
be issued a transfer certificate on application, after clearing all the
dues.
- If a
student leaves the college at the
end of an academic year, he will receive the attendance certificate
required by the University, if he applies for it.
- Collection
of fees due to the college
will not be suspended just because award of a scholarship is expected
from any of the agencies and late payment of fees will incur a fine.
- The college
authorities reserve the right
to cancel the admission of the student at any time without returning
the fees if (a) There is any discrepancy between the certificates
produced and the entries in the application or (b) if any suspension of
facts is discovered.
Attendance and Leave of
absence
- A student
shall attend all classes
regularly and punctually on the all the days, according to the Time
Table.
- If a
student has to be absent for a valid
reason, he should apply for leave before hand. When the absence is due
to an unforeseen cause, application for leave must be submitted as soon
as possible and in no case later than the first day after his return to
college.
- All leave
applications must be
countersigned by the parent or the guardian. In the case of hostel
students, the applications must be countersigned by the Deputy Warden.
- Attendance
position of the students will
be displayed on the notice board at the end of each month. Students are
advised to check their attendance. Ignorance of any such notice thus
pasted will not be accepted as an excuse. Any discrepancy should be
brought to the notice of the Principal in writing within a week’s time
for scrutiny.
- The
annual certificate of attendance and
progress required by the University examination will be in no case be
granted unless (i) the Principal is satisfied with the student’s
progress and conduct and (ii) the student has attended not less than
75% of the total number of actual working days in an academic year. Fee
concessions and scholarships granted are liable to be withdrawn for
lack of attendance.
- Condonation
for deficiency of attendance
will not be granted as a matter of routine.
- The
payment of scholarship amount is
dependant on maintenance of 90% of attendance and no relaxation of this
rule will be granted to anybody.
- Defaulters
who lose the attendance for
non-payment of fees will not regain the attendance once lost. Such
students who are removed from the rolls will however be re-admitted on
their paying the dues with fine, but will not regain their attendance
lost in this regard.
- Candidates
who have put in less than 50%
of attendance have to repeat the course (by rejoining) for which they
lack attendance, subject to approval by the university and principal.
They will not be permitted to proceed to the next year of course.
- Candidates
who have put in more than 50%
but less than 75% of attendance may be permitted to the next year of
the course and they may be permitted to take the next subsequent
University examination by paying the prescribed condonation fee without
putting in further attendance.
- Science
students should have 75%
attendance in the practical classes. Unless they attend the practical
classes and satisfactorily complete their practical classes as
expected, their attendance will not be certified by the Head of the
Departments concerned. In such cases they will not be permitted to take
the University Examinations. The Heads of the various departments will
submit to the Principal at the end of each term a list of students who
lack the necessary attendance. For extra curricular activities,
practical attendance will not be granted.
- If any
student represents the college in
any activity (co-curricular, extra-curricular, sport, NCC, NSS,
competition, etc.) he/she must produce the necessary certificate of
participation, duly authorized and authenticated within a week.
