The library was fully functional right from the time the college was built in 1971. As of now the library has over 21,500 volumes, 40 journals and periodicals and 1500 reference books.

The library also provides internet access and other facilities like a photocopier. The Guru Nanak College library was awarded the best maintained library among Chennai city colleges for the year 1999-2000.
