Uniqueness
- TUTORIALS SYSTEMS: The
Tutorial System in the Department has been functioning very effectively
in identifying the potentiality of our students. The procedure
that we adopt for effective tutorial system is:
- Each Faculty is allotted around 20
students in order to have intimate and closer interaction.
- Each
Faculty collects personal
information from the Tutorial Ward. These informations include the
students' Socio-Economic background as well as future plans.
- The innate potentialities of each
student in leadership, Essay writing, Oratorical competition, sports
etc., are identified.
- The tutor in charge, along with the
parents of the students conduct counseling sessions for the students to
shape their career.
- Students, on the basis of their
identified potentials are encouraged to participate in various
curricular, co-curricular and extra curricular activities.
- Students of our Department have
already shown leadership qualities through the office they have held in
the college students union. The faculty members have helped these
office bearers to solve the students' problems on many occasions
without compromising their academic standards. Some of our old
students after identifying their potentials for higher education have
come back to teach at GNC. Some of our P.G students after
completion have joined research institutes like Madras School of
Economics, and University of Madras.
- The Department has made it a point to
select best outgoing student every year to encourage healthy
competitions among the students. A panel of Faculties
through a multiple index of attendance, attentiveness, class
participation, discipline, and marks scored in the internal as well as
University Examinations select the best outgoing students.
- University Rank Holders
have done the department proud. Many of the students of the department
have research degrees form reputed institutions and occupy covetable
positions in esteemed institutions.
