Among the many achievements of the department, the following achievements deserve special mention:

1. Student evaluation
   The department has been following a method of student evaluation of teachers at the end of each academic year. A questionnaire is distributed and the students are instructed to objectively assess the performance of the teachers. The completed questionnaires are analyzed at the departmental level to improve the performance of the teachers.
   
   
2. Study tours
   Study tour is conducted for the first and third year students. After the tour is over students are given a questionnaire to share their tour experience. This helps us for improving the conduct of the tours in the future.
   
   
3. Entry level tests
   An entry level test is conducted for the first year students to assess their level of academic standing. This helps to identify the slow learners and the intelligent students.
   
   
4. Tutorial system
   Under the tutorial system each faculty is allotted a class to have personal attention.
   
   
5. Library
   The department has a well- maintained library with 850 volumes of books. The staff in charge of the library issues books to the students every week.
   
   
6. Labeling of the tress
   The trees in the campus are labeled both botanical and common names in order to enhance the inquisitiveness of the staff and the students. The students are asked to bring a twig of a known or unknown plant and the same is identified and displayed. This practice is captioned "Know your flora".
